“Though an army encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war arise against me,
Even in this I am confident.”
Psalm 27:3
I remember when God asked me to start a women’s ministry, it felt scary! I tried to talk God
out of it. I also tried to tell myself that I heard God wrong because I thought I did not have time to start a ministry at that time. Plus, I didn’t even know what this ministry would look like?
After God spoke to me about this ministry, He wanted me to start, so I submitted myself to prayer. As soon as I received confirmation, I took a leap of faith and took action!
How often have you heard someone say, “When I feel confident enough, I will do it.” or “I want to feel more confident so I can do it.”? I have used those two phrases myself.
It is important to keep our focus on the One Who is ever present with you, not on fear. Where you focus your attention is what will flow into your life. Do not let fear be the boss of you because it will paralyze you. Well, not physically. What I mean is fear will keep you from taking steps toward the plan God has for you. Fear will keep you from receiving all that God has for you.
On the other hand, if you focus on God and allow the peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your heart, you will find the confidence you need, and God will provide all you need for what He is calling you to do. He will also give you the grace to do what He is asking you to do. Remember God will not ask you to do something He has not already equipped you to do.
Keep your attention on God; not on yourself. Remember it is not about you; it is about furthering the Kingdom.
Going back to my story. The moment I switched my focus from self to God, fear left. God’s Word says in 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.” I made a choice to trust God! I made a choice to believe that if He was asking me to do this, He had already given me the grace and provision for the very thing he was asking me to do. We must believe that God has already equipped us to do His good works! I took a leap of faith and started it within 3 weeks after receiving confirmation. As I am writing this today, I have already celebrated 1 year of bible studies and God has shown up in every single one of them. Glory to God!
What is God asking you to do that feels scary?
Has fear kept you from being obedient to what is asking you to do?
Your Fellow Able Mom,
Karina
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that you created me to do your good works. And I confess that there have been times when I allowed fear to keep me from doing what you have asked me to do. Today I make a choice to trust that you will be by my side every step of the way as I walk in obedience. As Your Word says, I will not fear because I know that it is You, Lord, working in me and through me, and you give me the grace to fulfill whatever it is that you are asking me to do. Thank you, Jesus. It is in Your Precious Name that I pray. Amen!
