Out of the Whale

"But the Lord provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights... Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time..." – Jonah 1:17, 3:1 (NIV)
“Next level faith sits on the other side of our comfort zone.” – Pastor Kevin Beeso
Motherhood is full of moments that stretch us beyond what we thought we could handle—sleepless nights, big emotions (theirs and ours), and sacrifices no one sees. And then there are deeper moments—the ones when God asks us to trust Him with our kids, our marriages, our stories, and our futures.
Our pastor has been teaching through the book of Jonah, and one line stuck with me: “Next-level faith sits on the other side of our comfort zone.” That hit home. Because honestly, motherhood is one long journey beyond comfort. But it’s also one long invitation to deeper faith.
I spent years running from God’s calling on my life—I didn’t feel ready. I didn’t feel qualified. And in the chaos of raising kids, it just felt easier to stay safe. But God doesn’t call us to ease—He calls us to obedience. And like Jonah, I had to learn the hard way. I found myself in my own “whale belly”—stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure how to move forward.
But the moment I surrendered—really surrendered—everything changed.
Reliance Ministries was born out of that surrender. And while it felt terrifying at first, today I get to witness firsthand the fruit of obedience. Lives are being saved. Families are being healed. And every time I see hope restored in someone’s eyes, I remember: this is what happens when we say yes to God—even in our fear. Even in our motherhood.
Because here’s the truth, Mama: God has called you, too. Maybe not to start a ministry—but to raise warriors. To break generational chains. To speak life. To nurture hearts. To follow His voice, even when it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
So I ask you today:
Is there something God is asking you to do in this season of motherhood that scares you?
Is He asking you to forgive, to let go, to lead, or to trust Him in a new way?
Are you stuck in a whale belly of fear, comparison, or exhaustion?
If so, take heart. You’re not alone—and it’s not too late to surrender. God isn’t finished with your story. There’s a whole new level of faith and blessing waiting for you—and your children—on the other side of that yes.

Lord, thank You for meeting me in the middle of my mess. I want to stop running. Give me the courage to be obedient, even when it’s uncomfortable. Show me how to lead my children in faith by living it out myself. Use me right here in my motherhood—for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
